Direct Restorations
This procedure is preferable when the damage to the tooth is relatively small.
With a direct restoration, the dentist will inject a composite resin directly into the cavity. The filling seals it and merges seamlessly with the rest of your teeth.
Composite resin is highly effective as it is entirely malleable. It looks like your natural teeth and fits the contours of your tooth perfectly.
The procedure for direct restorations is relatively simple. First, we will clean the cavity of any bacteria. Then, we apply a painless phosphoric gel to create small grooves within the tooth. This gel allows a firmer grip for the liquid adhesive later applied.

Indirect Restorations
When the damage to the tooth is more extensive, we will use indirect restorations.
We construct indirect restorations outside of the mouth and insert them in a follow-up appointment. The fillings often take the form of caps made of porcelain or a similar ceramic.
We take exact measurements of your cavity via computer to ensure the cap fits perfectly. The completed restoration isn’t detectable and fits comfortably into your mouth. With this option, you won’t have to fear the filling coming loose.
Depending on the severity of the cavity, we can implant indirect restorations as inlays (internal fillings) or onlays (caps atop the tooth).
The procedure is more complicated than with direct restorations. Firstly, the dentist will clean the cavity of bacteria and debris. Using a camera and computer software, we make a composite design of your personal inlay/onlay. We will fit the filling in or on your cavity.
